John really scored with this bouquet. I have never seen flowers like these before. He took his bike into Seattle and found a small shop called "the flower lady" and bought these from her. I think it's the best bouquet I have ever received...

athen's birthday party

"Giant Bubbles" was my idea for the activity part of Athen's 4th birthday party. Like a responsible Mom, I made, kid-tested and approved the giant bubble solution before hand. Only to have it not work at the park while it rained.

Blue butter cream frosting mini cupcakes from New York Cupcakes were a hit. Athen only ate the frosting.

The kids didn't seem to mind the rain as much as I did. The perk was: they had the whole park to themselves.

Unfortunately, I hardly took any photos. As the rain fell harder I worried about my camera getting wet. Too bad, the kids were really colorful....

athen's 4th birthday

On May 4th, I decorated the living room and dining area with stars and streamers and we opened gifts as a family. Rich came and we had pizza, sang "Happy Birthday" and ate ice cream cake. A blue one because that's what Athen asked for. It was pretty low key and a nice night.Athen got some great spider man treasures from his Gamma. Here he is posing in his new rain boots and goggles. He also got a beautiful baseball glove (from Gamma), a scooter (from John and I), a bug sucker/vacuum (from Grammy), a batman truck with cars (from Rich) and a harmonica (from Carole).

Made these using fruit roll up boxes, tissue paper and glossy mod podge. I'm thinking of adding orange and purple too. Next mobile is for Athen. Using the same technique, I'm going to create the planets to go with his glow in the dark stars.
